This client, in his 40s, came in to pamper himself a little. He led a fairly hectic life, juggling work and personal life, family, children, and very little time for himself.
That day, already on holiday, he decided it was time to give himself that time.
The conversation flowed easily, and that's how I learned that, because of his busy life, he had been taking sleeping pills, as switching off his mind was something he hadn't been able to do for years. He was also losing weight, having already lost 20 kg, with just his stomach area left to work on, but the bulk of the effort was already done.
After the conversation, the massage began. After a while, when I asked if he had enjoyed it, he answered, surprised, that he had. He said he had managed to switch his mind off, something that genuinely surprised him.
Later, he admitted he hadn't known this type of massage existed and had felt a little awkward at first. Even so, it turned out to be a good day off, one where he managed to relax mentally without needing a single pill.
Before leaving, he apologized for something, to which I replied there was no need at all, this was exactly his moment.
Allowing yourself to relax, without guilt and without rushing, is often the first step toward truly switching off the mind. It doesn't always take a pill, sometimes all it takes is a safe space and a little time for yourself.
